There’s a popular saying in Africa that says, “opportunity comes but once”.

This statement is not entirely true. Opportunities come now and then, but the problem is many people aren’t prepared to cease them. 

Opportunities are like balloons, you can only catch them before they bust. Once they bust, they’re no longer useful, their lifespans expire. There are different types of opportunities, but I’ll mention only three in this piece:

• Momentary opportunities 
• Seasonal opportunities 
• Lifetime opportunities 

People often miss momentary opportunities, it’s not so hard to miss them. I myself have missed certain momentary opportunities. Please note that it’ll be better not to miss any opportunities at all but hey, life happens.

Some other people miss seasonal opportunities too. This particular type of opportunities could be costly to miss because such may not be recovered for a period of three to seven years. 

We know from studies that seasons roll between three to seven years. The truth is, I’m not too old to start over again. There’s nothing wrong with building on what has been done in getting close to fifty years of existence. 

I seriously admonish you not to miss seasonal opportunities because not too many people enjoy waiting all over again for the same season to roll back to them. But if you have missed some seasonal opportunities in the past, don’t worry, you’re getting close to your recovery season now. You definitely will smile again. 

The worst thing that could ever happen to an individual is to miss lifetime opportunities. 

These lifetime opportunities never return, they can never be recovered. Once lost they’re forever lost. 

How not to miss opportunities is to always be on the lookout for them.

Live continually and deliberately.

Never live a casual life. 

Never live a careless life. 

Live with the future in mind. 

Live like you’re here to make a difference. 

Live like the world is waiting for your contributions.

Live like you have a stake in this world.

It’s your right to seize opportunities and it’s time for new opportunities.
